"History" by Groove Armada feat. Will Young

I was listening to KCQN a few minutes ago and this awesome song came on.  There is no doubt in my mind that the BEST time to listen to KCQN is on the days where Aunt Carri's Newer New Wave is being featured.  The reason I loved KCGL and KJQ, those old 80's New Wave stations, is because they were always finding great new music, that was fresh and exciting!

I feel like Carri has captured the spirit of KCGL and KJQ.  Her Newer New Wave plays every Wednesday, all day long, and certain weekends.  If you are into New Wave it is definitely worth listening!

"Remember" by Steve Angello ft. The Presets

My BFF Carri sent me a link to this song last night while we were at the Beer Bar celebrating the election results.  Great stuff.

"The Look Of Love" by Burt Bacharach

I finally took a few minutes to take a nice warm bath last night and relax for a few minutes...

I've decided that I have to quit telling people that I've got a handle on the stress.  I had a couple of really good weeks, where I managed the stress very well.  But last week it was like "The Universe" upped the ante and the last few days I've really struggled...

Anyway, I was listening to my MP3 player in the bathroom and this song came on.  I know that opening riff by heart.  But for the life of me I couldn't figure out what song it was.

Funny, though, I knew it was the first track on one side of one of Burt Bacharach's first two A&M albums.  Sure enough, come to find out, it was the opening track on side 2 of the "Reach Out" album.

In going to post it this morning I went to the "official" Burt Bacharach one and discovered it was a completely different version.  Good but it doesn't have that immediately identifiable opening riff.  Turns out there are two official versions...

"Young At Heart" by The Ray Conniff Singers

I was telling my BFF Carri last night that I'm "Young at Heart" and therefore I can wear short skirts if I want to, LOL!  So it reminded me of this song.  This is one of the Ray Conniff albums that always stand out from my childhood.

"Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce

This ad popped up on YouTube today and I just love it! It is wonderful, it brought me so much joy, I watched it 3 times:

I so love Cookie Monster!  And it always reminds me of WJ.  It also reminded me of this song that I've intended to post several times and keep forgetting.

"Those Were The Days" by Mary Hopkin

I was listening to a Ferrante & Teicher album this morning and it had their version of this song on it.  It has kind of an Irish feel to it to me so why not post it today.  Happy St. Patricks Day!

"Mission Impossible Theme" by Lalo Shifrin

Such epic music.  I still remember watching this on TV.  I still have an old reel-to-reel tape of TV themes with this on it.

"No Time" by The Guess Who

Was it the Reiki? Was it the walk around Liberty Park last evening with Carri?  Was it not eating much all day and then eating a good amount very late, around 11:00 PM?  (I have noticed a correlation with that in the past.)  Was it the change to Daylight Savings time?  Like I told my son last year: there are too many f'ing variables in the sleep equation!!

Anyway, I was listening to the "American Woman" album this morning and this grabbed me...

The version from the "Canned Wheat" album is extremely cool, it has an extended intro and ending, additional riffs, words, etc.

"Going South" by The Wolfgang Press

I've had more wonderful nights of sleep in the last few months than I've had in over a decade.  I don't have any idea why.  And now, for over a week, it's gone South again.  I have no idea why.  The temperature?  I have no clue!  :(

Anyway, it reminded me of this song!

"Hey Little Girl" by Icehouse

My MP3 player went dead while I was in the dentist's chair on Wednesday. Since music is my anesthetic I got out my phone and listened to an Icehouse playlist on YouTube.  There are so many great Icehouse songs.  This is another favorite.
Lately the thought: "I'm a girl!" pops into my head all of the time.  It is such a great feeling knowing I'm a girl!  Just that simple thought makes me so happy!

"The Happening" by The Supremes

I was wondering this morning if anything was happening with the genderevolution conference yet this year and this song popped into my head.  One of my favorites by the Supremes...

"Ragtime Cowboy Joe" by Eddy Howard

I was listening to Eddy Howard's "Golden Hits" album this morning and I thought "My Best to You" is such a great song.  I did a search and I posted it to my old Scott's Vital Music blog almost a year ago on March 15th.  (Unfortunately I couldn't find a video for it on YouTube back then and I still couldn't find one today.)

Anyway, I think this is another fun song...

"Another Park, Another Sunday" by The Doobie Brothers

I was disappointed that yet another Sunday has slipped away without my getting some Rachel time :(   But it reminded me of one of my favorite Doobie Brothers song.

"I Drink Alone" by George Thorogood and the Destroyers

I went in to use the bathroom this evening and I had to shoo the cats out.  I told them: "I pee alone!".  I thought "hmm, that reminds me of a song... what is it?".  It took me several minutes but I finally remembered this song.

I just love the way various liquors are worked into the lyrics:

So I called up my pal Jack Daniels and his parter Jimmy Beam
Just my pal Johnny Walker and his brothers Blackie and Red
The only one that will hang out with me is my dear Old Grandad

"Here and Now" by Swing Out Sister

Another song that I can relate to: "nothing compares to this, even in your wildest dreams".  Even in my wildest dreams I had NO idea it was even possible to be this happy.  Nothing has ever compared to being who I am now.
