"Cathy's Clown" by The Everly Brothers

We had a couple of my Everly Brothers "Best of" albums out today and so many songs from my childhood that we love.  We remember our mom playing the Everly Brothers records when we lived up on 7th Street in Ogden.

But many of the songs now feel a bit misogynistic.  Like the verse with the line "You know a man can't crawl".  Ha!  Why not?!?!?

"Could It Hurt?" by Teresa Trull

Update 2-May-2019: Someone posed the question on  my YouTube video:

Monique Ribeiro
That's really the name of the Song?

So I double checked and took a screen shot of the credits on my laptop and added it above.  My reply to the question:

The title comes directly from the lyrics, for example:
What could it hurt to move a little closer?
Could it hurt to be adored for a minute?
How could it hurt to be loved by a woman like me?

I have discovered that I love Nicole Conn's films. As I've said before apart from Star Wars I never repeat watch films, but her films have touched me and I recently purchased "The Romance Collection" and I've been watching them over and over. This song jumped out at me and I wanted to post it as my song of the day on my blog, but I could not find it anywhere on YouTube. So I took this video off my little (terrible) portable DVD player with my cell phone. Be warned it is VERY poor quality.

"Duel" by Propaganda

The overall effect of MS is that it makes me slow.  I don't have good control of my fingers, so far too often I hit the wrong keys.  Sometimes over and over and over.  I think slow.  I forget what I'm doing.  I get confused about what I'm doing.

So I've realized I'm never going to catch up on all the blog posts I started and haven't finished (as of the moment I'm writing this there are 58 draft posts).

So I've decided to just post them irght now, without photos or comments and just one link to a video and maybe someday, somehow I will find to add photos, comments and finish them.  But for now...

"Your Love is Too Much" by Vanessa Daou

I can relate to the lyrics of this song (I'm definitely high maintenance).  Actually the lyrics are actually from the poetry of Erica Jong.  I think my favorite line is: "Red needs that telephone from foreign countries".

Just this entire thing is amazing and the ending:

"...cooking with sex coming after.  Cool sex, that speaks to the penis alone and not the howling chaos of the heart."

"Voices in My Head" by Naked Eyes

DUH!  Right after I made a post for today I realize I had also posted the "Flying Solo" song in my old blog on 7-Apr-2015 (which was just a few days before I transitioned it to this, my Rachel, blog).

Anyway, this is another Naked Eyes song I love:

Original "Flying Solo" post for today:

I was laying in the sun today.  I hate that the little record player that I've been using when I lay out is not working.  I suppose it could be worn out, the "wow and flutter" is so bad I can't stand it.
So I had to listen to music on my iPod Shuffle.  I was thinking of posting the song "Low Life", but I see I posted it on my old blog on 25-Nov-2011 so this is another song I love.  This is one of those songs that gives me an emotional response.  It appeals to something inside me.

"Forever" by Pete Drake

The Kacey Musgraves song "Oh, What a World" I posted a few days ago reminded me of this song.  This was so cool back in the day making it sound like his guitar was talking.

"Imagining America" by Everything But the Girl

The line "we're not here to harm your children" pops into my head all the time.  It is frustrating that some people believe transgender people are in the ladies room to do something nefarious.  Creepers just don't dress up as a woman to creep on children.

The video with various photos of scenes of America makes me so sad that Trump is destroying it  :(

"Red Moon" by Eat

Jared and I in at Broadway Music in Salt Lake City, Utah
I was in Day Murray Music today.  It is a very Mormon place, but they have treated me very well.  I like to go into spaces like this.  My philosophy is they need to see and meet more transgender people.  Hopefully, they will realize we are just human and not... crazy or trying to do something nefarious.

Jared's family owns Day Murray Music and I've had conversations with him about being transgender.  I hope maybe in the grand scheme of things it has made a difference.

#Transgender

I told the story of this CD before in this post in my old (before I stopped pretending to be male) "Scott's" blog: https://scotts-vital-music.blogspot.com/2011/08/mr-and-mrs-smack-by-eat.html:

"A good friend of mine, loaned me the "Sell Me A God" CD by Eat because he really liked it, he said they were so tight.  I fell in love with many songs on the CD.  Little did I know that when I returned the CD, it would be the last time I would see John.  He passed away shortly after that.  That was over 20 years ago, but I still think about him whenever I hear any of the music he turned me on to."

I should note that now he passed away almost 30 years ago.

"Oh, What a World" by Kacey Musgraves

Back of cover and Side B of Golden Hour record

This is definitely one of "my songs".  I see magic happening all around me all the time.  For months now, whenever someone asks me how I'm doing I always reply "Magical".  I just always need to be magical!

Anyway, some people were coming over today for Mother's Day and our bathroom was beyond disgusting.  I put on my French Maid costume and that  made it kinda fun.  Mariah got such a kick out of my maid outfit, she kept commenting on it.

Just like yesterday's song listening to this song made me cry.

"Murder" by Act

I'm filling in my draft posts here in August 2020.  Just putting in a link to the song for now.  I planned to post the song "Murder" by Act, but I could not find it on YouTube.  This is the song that was played on the New Wave stations in Salt Lake City - KCGL / KJQ and so on.

The 12 inch version is called Absolutely Immune II which is the one I think was played on the radio here.

"Rum and Coca-Cola" by The Andrews Sisters

KSL article talking about the Terrace Ballroom

One of my favorites from my childhood...  I think one of the first drinks I ever had was a rum and Coca-Cola.  I remember drinking them at the Terrace Ballroom between 4th and 5th South on Main Street in Salt Lake City, which is now a parking lot.

Weird to think bands like Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, Iron Butterfly, Grateful Dead, and Jefferson Airplane played there.

Petty Bitches at The Royal on 11-Apr-2018

I was at The Royal again last night and talked to the gentleman taking photos.  I asked him if the photos he had taken when I was there a few weeks ago.  He said his photos are on a Facebook group "Jam Fam SLC":

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1307518849373756/

Anyway, these are some of the photos from when I got up on stage with the Petty Bitches.  I was nervous at first but it was really fun.  I wish there had been some recording of it.

My blog post of the Petty Bitches performing a cover of Tom Petty's "Breakdown" was on 16-Dec-2017.

Anyway we did two songs that night and one of them was a cover of this song.

"The Folk Singer" by Tommy Roe

Found my 8 channel audio interface yesterday

I was out in the garage yesterday and found my one audio interface, so hopefully I can record my band (FTP) now.

I went out to The Royal tonight and was surprised to find my friend JoEllen from Las Vegas there.  She was one of the first trans-women I met.  She said something about my being kind of a "local folk hero".  It reminded me of this song.

She said she is doing gigs in Vegas, so that was cool to hear.  Although she said she gets some grief about being trans.  I was surprised that would still be happening in Las Vegas.

She also asked if I was "still singing" and that kind of surprised me.  I'm not sure how that came up.
