"Under My Thumb" byThe Rolling Stones

I always liked this song but let's face it, it is... well misogynistic.  I thought there should be a version with a female singer.  A few years ago I was told that there was such a track!  I think I'm going to try to find it for tomorrow...

"Mother's Little Helper" by The Rolling Stones

The line "what a drag it is getting old" pops into my head all the time.  I don't know that I feel quite that bad about now that I've discovered my true self.  I love who I am now, it doesn't matter what my age is, I feel younger!

I should add that this is another one of those songs that I paid no attention to the lyrics and it was many, many years before I even thought about what this song was saying.

"Satisfaction" by The Rolling Stones

I've decided to post more of my favorite Stones songs.  This song is obvious, to me this is THE rolling stones song.

"Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones

Update 3-Feb-2019: added the "Official Lyrics" video and moved the two dead links to the end.

This song always reminds me of Twisted Metal: Black every time I hear it now.  I remember working on Twisted Metal Black Online, it was a lot of fun.

"Eve of Destruction" by Barry McGuire

Update 28-Feb-2017:  It hard to believe how different the world seems now, just over a year and half since I posted this.  The Eve of Destruction seemed much more remote back then.  Anyway, while making today's post I came across a newer video, about  "The President Thall Shalt Not Be Named":

"Where Have All The Flowers Gone" by Johnny Rivers

This is another song that I never listened to what the lyrics were saying until I was much older.  A great song either way.  It's fifty years old now (1965)!

"These Dreams" by Heart

Always a great song!!  Love the hair in the video ;)

I really enjoyed the live video, Nancy and Ann are a little older but they look so pretty and I like Nancy's voice a little deeper.

"Bluebird" by Helen Reddy

Another song I love from the "No Way To Treat A Lady" album.  I didn't realize until recently that many of my favorite songs were written by Leon Russell.  I often don't enjoy the live versions of songs, but I really liked this one.  It was fun to see Ms. Reddy belting it out.

Turns out my "bluebird of happiness" came back to me.  It turns out it is Estrogen.  It is amazing how much happier I have been since my doctor change my dose back to the way it was before :)

"Don´t Let It Mess Your Mind" by Helen Reddy

This is another great song from the "No Way To Treat A Lady" album.  I can sort of relate to this song.  I was not a superstar, but things have certainly changed since the whole MS thing.  I still try to think of MS as an interesting experience.  I've had many interesting experiences in my life and still am.  I have to say being a transgender-woman is an AMAZING experience!

"Riders In the Night" by Freur

I've been going back through my posts from when I started blogging songs (http://scotts-vital-music.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html) and the Freur song there reminded me of this other great song from that album, so I thought I would post it here 4 years later.

"Tennessee Saturay Night" by Red Foley with The Cumberland Valley Boys

Are we there yet?  Are we there yet?  SueZQ should be in Memphis by now, but I haven't gotten any status updates.

I was trying to finish the reel-to-reel tape I have been making my brother and this is one of the 45's I put on it today.  I thought it was appropriate since SueZQ should be arriving there today.

"Silver Lining" - Rilo Kiley

I found this song while I was searching for the song by Kacey Musgraves I found this song and I love it too!  I can't say that I exactly understand the part about being gold, but it's a great song and the video is fun!

"Your Side Of The Bed" by Little Big Town

A distinctive opening riff of a song popped into my head this morning, but for the life of me I can't figure out what song it is.  I'm sure it's either the Harmonicats or The Three Suns

I've looked around YouTube and Wikipedia and still have no idea what song that is, so I'm going to post this song.  I played it over and over and over in the car today and I love it!!  Thanks for another great song Wendy!

Hmm, July 7.  I remember at 07:07:07 on 7-July-2007 I took a screen shot of the time.gov web page.  I planed on doing that every year 2001 to 2012, but never remembered any of the others.  If I remember correctly there was some special Earth day thing that day.  Hard to believe it was 8 years ago already.  So much has changed since then.

"Volare" by Bobby Rydell

I've had this song stuck in my head for two days now, ever since I recorded it onto a reel-to-reel tape for my brother (see Saturday's post).

"Nite Owl" by Bobby Loveless

Another 45 I recorded on the reel-to-reel tape I was making yesterday for my brother.  I didn't think this was any sort of hit, but judging by all the videos on YouTube, I may have been wrong.

It's always fascinating to me all the different labels there were back then.  Apparently the cartoon maker Hanna-Barbera even got into the biz.

The 45 I have is the pink label Hanna-Barbera promo record.  The one on the Michelle label sounds like a different recording to me.

"Our World" by Johnny Tillotson

Just for fun I've been recording a bunch of old 45 RPM records onto a reel-to-reel tape for my brother.  I never realized how much easier recording onto tape was compared to recording records digitally.  It takes so much less effort: you don't have to worry about clipping as much, I'm not as anal about the edits, and then (if you want the levels to be a decent match) there isn't all the fooling around adjusting the gain.

Anyway, in retrospect this is an interesting song.  Many of us thought (hoped?) that the world would get better as described in this song.  Unfortunatedly that didn't turn out to be the case.  Bombs are still going "boom, boom, boom", certainly everybody is still not safe at night https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kTgcwPDNNM and a lot of dances still end up being a war dance.  :(

"Dear Future Husband" by Meghan Trainor

Here's another really fun song from the CD that Wendy loaned me.  Now that I've seen the video I love it even more!  I just *LOVE* the video.  What's not to love about 50's retro?

YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShlW5plD_40

Speaking of Retro, I just love this little shop called "Retro Betty" up on 2300 E. here in Salt Lake City.  They have the cutest stuff and from what I've seen reasonably priced.
