"Here's Where the Story Ends" by The Sundays

A sad day - the legacy blogger interface is gone :(

Update 27-June-2021: like a month or two (I don't know exactly when) Google changed the blogger interface back again such that it is usable again.  I know there were many like me that hated the new interface.  It is very similar now to the old legacy interface.  So I plan to still make blog posts.

We had a rally today to support Senator Kamala Harris on the way to her debate with Mike Pence.

This is another song I heard on the Lucifer series.

"The Rain, The Park & Other Things" by The Cowsills

Wire tied a stick to the wipers to keep them from moving
Three 1/2 inch extensions and universal joint to get to the nut
The old wiper motor
Old motor removed
The old and new wiper motors
Finally putting the new windshield wiper motor into CeCe.  Unfortunately I can't say it was a huge success, the low speed doesn't work, it only runs in high and the wipers don't park.  They stop wherever you turn them off.

"Cold Blood" by Valen

I love the George Floyd sticker on CeCe
#GeorgeFloyd

A couple of years ago I did an interview with a man named Ian Brown that was doing this "American Dreams" project.  He took some pictures of me as well.  I guess he has published the book and I'm in it.  I've ordered a copy from the Kings English bookstore.

KingsEnglish: https://www.kingsenglish.com/

The American Dreams book is published and I'm in it :)

I wrote back and had to add how I feel today:

I was thinking yesterday, after seeing the news, it's kind of ironic at this point I feel like I'm living an American Nightmare.  Ever since Trump took office I've felt humiliated by what a complete horror he is.  I've talked with people I know in other countries and feel like we are a laughing stock and it's just gotten worse and worse.  I have to say the "Elect a Clown, Expect a Circus" bumper stickers are spot on.  I feel embarrassed and ashamed of all the stuff that is happening in this country and it just keeps getting worse.  We just had a rally here last night for a 13 year old autistic child the police shot in the back 11 times because he wigged out when they stopped him.  I mean WTF man?!!?  And then Notorious RBG passed away at this worst moment possible.  I just can't even fathom those hypocrites in the Senate, that they can totally do an about face like that. It's an absolute disgrace!!!  And it's hard to even wrap my head around Trump's base / followers, they are in some alternate reality.

Another song I heard on Lucifer...

"Come a Little Bit Closer" by Jay & the Americans

I went down in the crawl space to look at the plumbing
I don't think putting my new manifold in will be too bad
I've been watching Gilmore Girls and when Lorelai and Chris were driving home they settled on this song on the car radio.

Too funny I just started this post yesterday and now I can't remember what made me think of this song.  Was it on a cassette tape?

"Put a Light in the Window" by The Four Lads

I was watching "The Gilmore Girls" tonight and something somebody said reminded me of this song.  This was one of my favorite songs from my early childhood.  I remember my mom playing their Greatest Hits album downstairs at the house on 7th Street in Ogden.

"Maxwell's in the Slammer" by Founders Sing

Maxwell is just despicable!!!
You have to wonder how broken people who do such nasty things to other human beings.  It's so hard to wrap your head around her and her boyfriend Brian Epstein could do those things.  And then our horrible president wishing her well.  WTF!?!  I guess birds of a feather?

"Capture My Soul" by ITG Studios (feat. Laura Lou)

Two of the (very hot) characters from the "Dark Desire" series on Netflix
I've been watching the "Dark Desire" ("Oscuro Deseo" original Spanish title) series on Netflix.  I think it's good, even though a little hard for me to follow sometimes.  The lead character, Alma (on the right in the screenshot above), is so fucking HOT!!  Actually, Brenda (on the left) is pretty hot too.  I can't complain that there are some pretty explicit scenes too.

This song was in the last episode.

I was dismayed today to see that the Blogger people have announced a final date for the Legacy Blogger interface, I think it is in September.  I have been very afraid that was going to happen.  I have been dreading that!!  I have not been able to keep up with my posts as it is with the old more straightforward, concise interface.  I just can't do it with their new horrible (in my opinion) "modern" interface.

Last year I set up a website for myself (http://theracheledwards.com).  It is based on WordPress which I'm only slightly familiar with.  I'm going to see if I can figure out how to continue my blog on there.

"The Girl I'll Never Know (Angels Never Fly This Low)" by Frankie Valli

No brakes....
My poor baby!!
CeCe looks cool even on the back of a tow truck!!
So I left Jitter Bug Coffee and headed west on 2100 South in Salt Lake City to pick up a few things at Costco.  Just past Main Street I pressed on the brakes to slow down a little and they felt slightly odd.  I was like hmm... that's odd.  I pumped them a little and I think once the pedal went to the floor.  So I slowed to a crawl and pulled into the next parking lot I came to.

I wanted to find a shady parking place in case I had to wait in the very hot afternoon sun.  There were very few trees by the parking spaces, the only empty one clear at the far (north) end.  I called SueZQ to alert her that I had a situation.  I debated whether to try to crawl home, but finally decided the risk of something bad happening was extreme.

So I called AAA, but I had NO idea what the address was.  I told them I was east of the Chevron station on the corner of 2100 South and 300 West but they couldn't seem to get that.  Finally I told them I was directly across the street from the entrance to the Best Buy.  I could look straight south at the entrance to Best Buy.   I emphasized that I was across the street.

Naturally, a few minutes later I saw the AAA truck pull into the Best Buy and start driving around.  I was like shit!  But after a minute the driver called and asked where I was.  I walked into the Chevron parking lot so they could see me (wearing a blue skirt and explained that I was across the street and they came right over.

By that point CeCe had no brakes at all, the pedal just went clear to the floor (thank heavens I didn't try to make it home!!!!).  We had to use the emergency / parking brake to move her where she could be loaded on the truck.

When I told Bruce at the coffee shop what happened he said I must have angels watching over me.  I'm pretty sure they just ride along with me!!  ;)

"Taste" by Betty Who

The seat cover for CeCe and my Coca-Cola bottle opener came today
I attempted to try to remove the old wiper motor
I looked under the dash a few days ago and I thought there wasn't a nut holding the wiper motor to the windshield wiper arms (transmission).  But it turns out I was looking at the wrong thing and there is nut on the inside way back under the dashboard.  It looks like a bitch to get to.  I will definitely have to remove the car stereo to get back in there.

A friend on Facebook sent me the link to this video... hot, Hot, HOT!!!

"Ziggy Stardust" by David Bowie

Getting it centered and the spacing correct

Two tiny spiders were crawling around while I worked
Part of the stencil tore off in the 'C'

It's hard to believe how much time it has taken painting just the "Black and "Matter" on my car.  Several hours tonight just doing the "Black.

The first David Bowie album I ever bought.

"The Bitch Is Back" by Elton John

One of our favorites (it's red after all)
Our sexy sleepwear from Black Velvet
We decided to take a day off from working on the car and go visit Wendy and pick up Rachel's Father's Day gift from her.  Plus Rachel saved a little money from her Economic Stimulus money to go to Black Velvet our favorite sexy shop.  That is what it was for to support local businesses.  As you can tell by all the sexy things Rachel has bought there over the years, we love that place.

Black Velvet Boutique: http://blackvelvetboutique.com/

Located at 595 State Street, Clearfield, Utah

After Rachel found a couple of pretty new items at Black Velvet, we decided to go get us a Veggie Ben at the Burger Bar in Roy, Utah.  We were kind of sad to see that Black Velvet's old location was being torn down.  That place was epic for us!  The first place Rachel ever tried on and bought lingerie.  As you can see from her collection above, she spent a lot of time in those old fitting rooms.

Black Velvet Boutique's old location
Almost completely demolished
As anybody who follows Rachel's blog is aware, it has been a while since we made a post.  The fatigue from the heat and stress most nights we had nothing left to give by the time we were finished working on the car.  Plus, even though we are still using the old Blogger interface, the thought of maybe eventually having to use that cumbersome new Blogger interface just freaked us out.

But Rachel has many draft posts she just hasn't finished, so we are going to try to get those finished.  So hopefully The Bitch IS Back!!

"Fool If You Think It's Over" by Chris Rea

Note: As of today (6-Sept-2020) I have 83 "draft" blog posts.  ("Draft" meaning posts I've started but haven't finished, so they aren't published yet.)  I want to add comments about the song.  Tell what is happening in my life, etc.  Add pictures of what is going on.  But at this point There is just no way I'm ever going to catch up.  The evidence is that I can't even keep up.  So I'm just going to publish these posts with a link to the song (hopefully one that is unlikely to disappear).  Maybe if a miracle occurs someday I'll be able to add comments / photos to them.

"Spiderwebs" by No Doubt

I had 5o go buy a tap to clean out the threads so the banjo bolt would screw in
Woohoo!!!  The left side is complete!!
I'm so excited!!  I completed the drum brake to disc brake conversion on the driver's side of CeCe today!

I remember when my daughter was first living with me that she took an segment of this song and put it on our answering machine for the greeting.  The audio quality was so bad it was difficult to even tell what it was.

"You're So Mean to Me" by Coco Montoya

KRCL's The Blue Devil's Blues Revue CD
Of course it is my "Dead Name" in the credits

I dug out some CD's to play while working on my car.  I played a part in the creation of this CD, I used to go with my friends Rob and Connie and run the UHF transmitter that sent the audio for the Blue Devils Blues Review program over to the KRCL studios for broadcast.  It was around 30 years ago.

I'm finishing this post like three and a half weeks after I started it.  I've just felt so overwhelmed by everything.  First it turned out that this song by Coco Montoya did not appear on YouTube anywhere I could find.  I considered posting a different song, but it felt like that ruined the meaning of this post.  So I decided to make my own video on YouTube for it.

Then Google changed the interface for Blogger... I have no idea what they were thinking.  I suppose they wanted to change it to the current interface style.  But I think it's HORRIBLE!!!!  It's ugly, less concise and far more cumbersome to use.  It just threw me for a loop, when I was trying to deal with all this other stuff.  I just didn't have the fortitude (?) to make a video and deal with that nasty interface.

I did find a way to revert back and use the old Blogger interface, which I'm so thankful for!!  I hope they leave it available, I'm dreading the thought of a time when I have to use that NASTY new interface!

Anyway, here is the video I made for this song, from on the CD.  I introduced the CD for a minute at the beginning of the video, there is a link to start at the radio introduction of the Blue Devils Blues Review and where the music starts.

"Saved by Zero" by The Fixx

Track listing of the KRP on air cassette I found
I made a track listing of the cassette I found that was an on air recording of KRP a short lived New Wave station on November 1st, 1987.  (See yesterday's post)

I was going to post another song from the cassette today and I was thinking maybe "Secret Separation" by The Fixx.  But when I checked to see if I've posted it before, I noticed that I've never posted "Saved by Zero".  I was like WTF?  How can that possibly be!!  That was one of the first songs I heard on MTV that really drew me to it.  It was just an epic, quintessential song and video for me.  So I've decided I should post it for today!

Interesting that the extended version has additional lyrics.

Good to see the red grease poking through the ball joint
And I love that I found red dust boots for the ball joints
New tie rod end, new spindle and caliper bracket installed and torqued
The bolts that hold the caliper bracket to the spindle are supposed to be torqued to 95 foot pounds.  I could never get the torque wrench to click indication it was at 95 ft. lbs.  I put the assembly on the ground and tried to hold it still with my feet while I wrenched o  the bolts.  Couldn't do it.  I had SueZQ come and help me and we still couldn't get there.

Finally it occurred to me that if I attached the spindle to the car, the car would hold it steady for me.  I did so and it was cake!

"Current Stand" by Kids In the Kitchen

Mystery Tape turned out to be a recording of KRP from 11/1/1987
I have been digging through this bankers box in the garage that has all these miscellaneous cassettes, to find tapes to listen to while I'm driving SueZQ's truck.  This mystery tape turned out to be a gold nugget for me!!  It's an on air recording of the short lived New Wave station, KRP.  From things the deejay said and an ad for a concert, I'm fairly certain the tape was recorded on November 1st, 1987.

Here is a list of the New Wave stations as I remember them:

  • Super 107 - I don't remember this, but one of my friends said it was the first
  • KCGL - it was in a building in Bountiful, Utah on Orchard Drive, near the hospital
  • KRP - rented time in the evening on the station that was WKRP during the day
  • KJQ - on a backstreet off of 12th Street in Ogden, Utah - in the beginning just at night
  • X96 - KJQ was bought out (?) and became a Christian radio station, so everybody (?) left and started X96 which was more Alternative
  • KJQN - Owned by the same people as X96, to be a New Wave station.  Focus groups messed this up, wasn't the same music as the original KJQ.
  • KCQN - Chet Tapp and I and some of the DJ's from the old stations, started this Internet radio station after I lost my job because of MS in 2011.  We first went on the (Internet) air on October 1st, 2011.  Chet still kids me that it was the longest 2 weeks of my life.
  • 103.1 The Wave - KCQN finally became a real, over the air, terrestrial radio station on October 1st, 2016.
103.1 The Wave:  https://www.1031thewave.com/

I'm making a track listing of the cassette now.  It's just so cool to me to hear almost 33 years later, not only the music, but the ads for places that are long gone.

Also this song has a distinct memory for me: I gave this album to my brother, Brad, for Christmas one year.  I had gotten a new video camera for Christmas that year so we had the family Christmas party at his house and somewhere I have video from that party with kids opening presents while this song played in the background.

The "Ultra Sharp Lines" tape tore off a chunk of the brown paint, sigh!!  :(
I'm pretty sure grease is not supposed to be this stiff ;)
I finally got around to changing the plug on my battery charger
The 12 volt battery in our old Prius was bad, so I finally just left my battery charger in the trunk, connected to the battery all the time.  One time I forgot to unplug it (one time? hahaha) and it pulled the cord out of the back and, unbeknownst to me, it dragged on the ground and filed down the "Hot" pin on the plug.  It also broke the ground pin off completely.  So towards the end the arc every time I plugged it in burned the pin.  I could just smell the ozone whenever I plugged the battery charger in.
