"Break My Stride" by Matthew Wilder

This morning I finally thought of a good word to describe 2016: "Relentless"!  It has just never let up, that has been stuff going on every single day.  I was also thinking that we need to stay strong and can't let anything break our stride, which reminded me of this song.

"Lost Boy" by Ruth B

When Wendy first sent me a link to this song I thought it was a fun song, but since then it has really grown on me.  Now every time I hear it come on the radio I have to turn it up.

"Feel So Good (Hurt So Bad)" by Tom Robinson

I was laying here trying to go back to sleep and the line "under the covers where it's safe and warm" popped into my head.  This was such a great album.  Found it when I was in Bremen, Germany.

"She's A Star" by Barry Manilow

I've enjoyed listening to these old Barry Manilow albums over the last few months.  I've found so many gems that I'd forgotten.  This is another one that I was delighted to rediscover.

"Love is a Battlefield" by Pat Benatar

When we woke up this morning I was thinking "we have to be strong" and then "no, we ARE strong".  Then the chorus to this song popped into our head.

"Strawberry Fields Forever" by The Beatles

Just thinking about the "Paul is Dead" thing.  I so wish I had that reel-to-reel tape that I recorded at the time.  It would be so fun to hear.  There is actually a Wikipedia article about it:

Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_is_dead

Anyway, this is one of the songs that reminds me of that whole scene:

"Tell Her No" by The Zombies

There is a song on the same Juice Newton "Greatest Hits" album I was listening to yesterday that sounded vaguely familiar, but I couldn't quite place it at first.  The rhythm or tempo or something was different enough that it threw me off.  I finally realized it was a cover version of this song.

Note: the two (live 1965) videos are the same video.  Rod Argent (?) tells an interesting story, about this song, at the beginning of the (live 2015) video.

"It's Not Enough" by Swing Out Sister

Another favorite from the "It's Better to Travel" album.  The theme to which I posted last week.  I think it's cool (and unusual?) for a record album to have a theme.

Maybe it's just me but Swing Out Sister's lyrics always seem so brilliant.

"How Dare You" by Basia

This song came on my MP3 player today.  I love it!  How dare you talk to ME like that!?!

And, yet again, I can't believe I haven't posted any music by Basia before now!  How can that be possible!?!

"The Long Tunnel of Wanting You" by Vanessa Daou

If I remember correctly I listened to this CD several times before the lyrics caught my attention.  It seems like I was working late one night at Evans &Sutherland, listening to CD's on that huge old boom box, while I worked.  Suddenly the lyrics to this song wormed their way into my consciousness.  I did a "what did she just say..."  LOL

"Theme (from It's Better to Travel)" by Swing Out Sister

Another entry in my recurring theme of "how can I have forgotten to post this song until now?".  This is one of my favorite instrumentals of all time!  Many, many years ago I even made my own remix version where I tweaked the levels.

This first video is wonderful, showing pictures from all over the world. The second video has photos of women and horses.  What's not to love about that!

"Smooth Operator" by Sade

I was trying to sing this with the karaoke version and realized that I didn't know exactly what all the lyrics even were for this song.  The karaoke version is really well done!   This is such a wonderful, smooth song...

"Cat House" by Danielle Dax

There is just no freakin' way I have forgotten to post this song until now!  This was one of those epic songs that I fell in love with the first time I ever heard it.  I remember I was driving down State Street, around 17th South, in that old Ford van, when they played it on KJQ... as best I remember it anyway.

The line "gonna polish up your chrome and shine your treasure", what could she possibly be referring to...  LOL!

"Fly Like an Eagle" by Steve Miller Band

Without a doubt, my favorite Steve Miller Band song.  I associate this song from the days I was working in the Standards Lab at Sperry Univac.  Good times!

I went over to IconoCLAD after the Pride parade today.  One of the most awesome stores ever!  They were playing this song and I couldn't resist dancing.

"Green Onions" by Booker T & the MG's

Today just never stopped, it was just go, go, go all day.  I was thinking time is so tight and that reminded me of the song by Booker T & the MG's.  But I posted it on my old blog on 12-Apr-2013.

So here is another favorite by BT&MG's.  I always associate this song with being toward the end of American Graffiti.
