"Another Brick in the Wall" by Talia Keys

Talia Keys performing at Piper Down 29-Jan-2019
Melahn showing me the digital mixer

Her whole show last night was just amazing!  I just loved her rendition of this Pink Floyd song.  So amazing that she did this solo!  (With Melahn's help on sound of course.)

While Talia was performing Melahn was showing me how their digital mixer worked on her iPad.  So incredible, compared with the old school mixers I've used.

"Bullet with Butterfly Wings" by Smashing Pumpkins

My old "Audio Files" backup CD's and other stuff circa 1995-2000
A few days ago I dug the banker's box that contains all of my old "Audio Files" backup CD's I made between 1995 and 2000 out of the garage.  See my post from January 27th.  (Note the blank CD-R's cost betweem $13 and $15 EACH in 1995.  I wanted to cry when one of those failed to burn correctly!)

Anyway, after some grief with the program I wrote some years ago trying to convert the SD2 (Sound Designer II) files to Wave files I started converting all of those files to wave files.  (It was frustrating that I couldn't remember how to use a program I wrote!!)

I saw this song was among the files I was converting and I couldn't even remember what it was.  There is a karaoke version too, so I may try to perform it myself.

"Furs 'n' High Heels" by Roman Holliday

My MIDI keyboard showing the damaged cheap ass, USB connector
Bankers Box with all the old "Audio Files" backup CD's

Funny, decades before I figured out who I was this was my favorite Roman Holiday song.

"World Without Walls" by Martini Ranch

Mr. Trump: Give up on that stupid fucking wall!!
I just don't thing think anyone in the idiotic Trump administration should even be allowed to utter the name of a great man like Martin Luther King Jr.

Anyway, I always loved how they used the famous Ronald Regan quote to start off this song: "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!".

"Red High Heels" by Kellie Pickler

My calendar for 2019 and the red heels I found
Update 13-Jan-2019: I forgot to explain that I experienced some transphobia from a couple of guys when I went into Standard Heating to try to purchase a High Limit Switch to repair the furnace.  Afterwards, I went to confirm they were at least being truthful about only selling to contractors (they were) and a lovely woman helped me out and hooked me up with Allied Inc.

I wanted to do something nice for that lovely woman and I thought I would take her some flowers.  I stopped into Deseret Industries to buy a vase for the flowers and saw those red shoes on the shoe rack.  They are a different size, but otherwise identical to the first pair of heels I bought clear back in 2012.  Even though they don't really fit me (I can put them on but they a extremely tight), they are in such good condition I decided to buy them ($6) anyway.

Original post:

Finally got the furnace fixed tonight.  I drilled a couple of new mounting holes and installed the new High Limit Switch in the same hole as the old one and we have heat AGAIN!

Then I met the Grrrl Gang over at the Broadway and saw the Ruth Bader Ginsberg movie.  Had a good cry along with Genevra.  And we (Women) still DON'T have equal rights all these decades later.  :(

Later I went to check out Lumpy's bar in Sugarhouse tonight and see how it was for karaoke.  It was quiet, I did 3 songs, the KJ did 2 and a group of guys did one.  So I sang half the songs that were done while I was there.  Then my left hand started having muscle spasms, so I decided to call it a night.

"Another Vice" by Miranda Lambert

Plaque in Day Murray Music

I suppose I should have found an RCA Victor recording from back then to go along with the above plaque they have in Day Murray Music, but that would probably take far more time and effort than I have to give right now.

A few days ago I heard a rumor that The 5th in Bountiful was no longer doing karaoke on Wednesday nights.  That freaked me out because I already lost one karaoke night this week (Handle Bar is not longer doing karaoke on Sunday nights), so I had to go find out. (Note: they are still doing it :)

Anyway, I felt totally like shit last night and had to force myself to get out of bed, to drive to Bountiful.  So I really had no intention of staying, but then I got sucked in and stayed for a while.

A young woman that followed me after one of my performances was nervous, so she asked me to come and sing with her.  This was the song she was performing, which I explained I was unfamiliar with, but she still wanted me to be with her.

I was very honored to think that someone would want me on stage with them.  I stood with her and tried to follow along with her.  She did a spectacular job and I decided I really like this song.
