"Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton

I attended the "The Bystander Dilemma: The Holocaust, War Crimes, And Sexual Assaults" symposium today at the S. J. Quinney School of Law at the University of Utah and it was outstanding.

Here is the video of the entire 6 hour program, it starts with the discussion about the Holocaust and Bystanders:

YouTube (U Law): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0sfrQ2o4Cc

There were several parts that really struck me.  The Reverend Doctor John C. Lentz, Jr.'s talk, spoke to me about how I believe religion and Christianity should be.  I am not that religious, but if I were, this man is someone whose guidance I could believe in...  Actually, I absolutely believe what he said in his talk is true.

He asks the question (28:26): "Why did Christians just stand by and do nothing to save the Jews?".

And he made an excellent point (33:05): "Christians failed (to protect the Jews), but so did Atheists".

I really liked the end of his talk (35:24), so I tried to transcribe the text at the bottom of this post.

In fact, I think his talk is so wonderful I think everybody should just watch and listen to the entire thing.  This is where it starts:

YouTube (Reverend): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0sfrQ2o4Cc&t=25m

Then the War Crimes panel picks up on topics raised in then first session:

YouTube (War Crimes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0sfrQ2o4Cc&t=1h41m58s

The segment of the program on Sexual Assault was dear to me.  Far too many people are sexually assaulted every day.  And as I'm sure most people are aware, it's not just women and girls.  Gay men, transgender people, straight men and boys are assaulted regularly.

I'm sad to say that several of my transgender friends have been sexually assaulted.  The entire thing is SAD!!!  No human being or beings should be attacking another human being in such a deeply personal way!

YouTube (Sexual Assault): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0sfrQ2o4Cc&t=4h41m5s

I had shed some tears during various parts of the program.  Even more so this section on Sexual Assault.  All of the stories where horrific, the attacks so personal!

But Ms. Brenda Tracy's story (5:17:59) about what happened to her, really opened the floodgates.  I'm so glad that Catherine was sitting next to me so we could hold each other.

It blows my mind that so many people could conspire to throw a young woman (who had been brutally assaulted by 4 young men) under the bus, just so they could assure their football stadium was updated.

YouTube (Ms. Tracy): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0sfrQ2o4Cc&t=5h17m8s

After the symposium was finished I stayed and talked to Ms. Tracy for a few minutes.  What an absolutely amazing woman!  I told her a bit about my story as a transgender woman and she pointed out some similarities in our experiences.

Thanks to her for that insight, that connection hadn't occurred to me at the time.  But in reading the articles, perusing her website, watching her video and thinking more about it, I see several similarities and connections.  That is probably why I related so strongly to her story.

I notice that Title IX came up in her story and it is, of course, very much in my mind in the past few months.  My blog posts on Feb. 24th and Feb. 28th for example.  #StandWithGavin

And there was one unexpected connection, she mentioned in her About section "My two sons are my  heart and my life.  When I wanted to die, I thought of them.".  I know that thinking of my children, is what always pulled me back from the precipice.

You can read more about Ms. Tracy on her website and I definitely recommend watching the video on her website:

Please, everyone reading this: sign her and her son's petition to ban violent athletes:

And here are some other articles about her I found:

And finally, in the same vein, I happened across this Samantha Bee "Job Fair for Future Women" story about sexual harassment at work.  Places like the Grand Canyon, cruise ships, even female comedians and scientists.  Really!!  She even finished up with a theme song for "The Rape Boat"...

This seems a bit anti-climatic after all of that, but it is a wonderful song I've been intending to post for a long time.

This is the text for Reverend Doctor John C. Lentz, Jr.'s talk that really reached out to me.

Note: I transcribed this with voice-to-text and it wasn't perfect by any means.  I've done my best to clean it up and make it reflect what the Reverend intended.  I have put the phrases that I feel are important in bold. Please excuse any errors I may have introduced.

While it isn't easy reading, Deuteronomy and Leviticus, it's absolutely foundational to everything that is written; that you care for the other.  That you help someone in need.  That you remember that you were a stranger and so treat everyone with compassion.  That you even help someone who's donkey is stuck in a pit, even on the Sabbath.  The prophets Amos, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Micah declare in no uncertain terms that God is on the side of the oppressed and that god demands that the faithful act on behalf of the other.  So perhaps, theologically, we should quit blaming God and more blame ourselves.  In short in the biblical literature, the call is clear: no by standing.

And I really think too much of religion today is about individual purity and identifying who's in and outside of the in-group, at the expense of community concern.  And I think this is a horrible misreading of the sacred text.  In the same... it is same in the New Testament: "lay down your life for a friend", "blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness", "love your enemies".  The ancient religious texts give us the moral vocabulary, so we need to know it and use it, not dismiss it.

Religion at its core stresses a covenant-al rather than a transactional language and approach to our Civic life together.  Clearly in this partisan age we are losing the notion that we are part of a larger whole, this E pluribus unum.

Individuals within the covenant community understand that we are in this together, as part of something larger, therefore we must alleviate the suffering. We must stand up and speak out against oppression and violent... of violence.  And what is often overlooked, I believe, is this: the message of the sacred scripture, at least for me, is transcend... transcendental, transcendent, not tribal.   The covenant is really not for the closed-in group, who share a religious belief, but is rather has this wonderful transcendent vision extended to all people.

Laws can encourage this for sure, but I think a secular society alone cannot work.  So Christians and Jews need to reclaim and proclaim the revealed truth, again and again and again Because it is easily forgotten, as we see, and the powers-that-be are strong.

And let me close with something contemporary I fear that we are in a similar state today.  Because: do we stand with the Jews, today, in response to the attack on Jewish community centers and the desecration of cemeteries?  Do we rise up and speak out against hateful words that are directed towards our Muslim neighbors and immigrants and refugees?

Do we challenge white privilege and institutional racism within the church and the academy, let alone in police departments and in businesses?  Do we stand by and watch women get raped or homeless men taunted?  Or as I read in the newspaper: not to build homeless centers in my backyard?

When community breaks down and we become tribal rather than transcendent, we lose ourselves and no law is going to protect us for long.  And so I want to claim that religious text, whether you're a believer or not, doesn't really matter.  Religious texts give us a language of protest, of behavior, of community, of standing with the least.  And the notion of covenant from Genesis 1 to Revelation 21 stresses compassion, care, sacrifice, neighbor love.  Always extending the boundaries of concern and I think it is a source of hope for me.

So from standing within a religion, I get very frustrated and critical and embarrassed about my institution and many who claim the title, including myself.  We failed during Nazi Germany and often times we fail today.  But I will be damned if I'm going to let it happen again!  And the deeper question is: where are you standing?

Thank you.

"This Is Not America" by Anna Maria Jopek and Pat Metheny

Virg's Fish and Chips was on State Street in Salt Lake City, back on 29-Mar-2007
Update 25-Dec-2018: discovered I had two blog posts for 12-Mar-2017, but had no post for this date so I moved this post to this date (30-Mar-2017).

I also found this photo from back on 29-Mar-2017, a mere 10 years before, but how things have changed!  I had NO IDEA a decade later I would be happily living as a woman.  It boggles my mind!!

Original post moved from 12-Mar-2017:

Found this version of this song today, absolutely I love it!!  I posted the original version last year on 15-Jan-2016

And I have to say that since January 20th, I don't think this is America...

"You Wear it Well" by Rod Stewart

This is the hardest blog post I've ever had to write.  I'm actually writing it several days later because I haven't been able to face it.  Every time I've sat down to write it, I was so overcome with sadness I couldn't do it.  I cried so much on that day...

We need to put a stop to bullying of all people, young or old, straight or gay, cis or trans, normal or challenged!  As I noted in my post last 29-Aug-2016 here is the link to The Bully Project with a video and some resources:

TheBullyProject: https://vimeo.com/73792284

Update 18-Feb-2018: I found an old photo with Gaylen in it and posted it in my post for today.

I was on Facebook this morning and, I can't remember what led me to look at the "In Memory Of Those That Passed On From Bonneville Alumni" group, but it was heartbreaking to see one of my two best friends staring back at me.

http://www.standard.net/Obituaries/2017/03/05/Gaylen-Howard-Bodily

Gaylen, Randy Underwood and I comprised a trio that hung out through our high school years and many years afterwards.  I spent more time hanging out and doing everything with Gaylen and Randy than anybody else.

I have so many stories about our times together...  I could go on and on and on!

I so remember his green AMC Gremlin!  He so loved that car!  So many stories and adventures.  A few years ago, in my blog post for 3-Feb-2013, I mentioned one trip that sticks in my mind.

Another time, very late one night, we took the Gremlin 4-wheelin'.  It was up in some dirt hills, also in North Ogden.  Unfortunately, there was a huge rock that was partially sticking out of the ground and we hit it with the cross member and it bent the hell out of it.  Since we were climbing a hill the car had been in 1st gear and after hitting the rock it was impossible to shift.  So we had to drive home in 1st gear, all the way from North Ogden to South Ogden.

Gaylen used his dad's 1951 Dodge pickup truck for many things.  One of the fun things was when the Stage Crew created a float for the football game when Bonneville made it to the State Finals:

Stage Crew Float

Because the football part of the float was made using a 2x4 extended from the bed over the tailgate, it stuck out the back of the truck.  So Gaylen had to drive it blind and in reverse around the track in the parade, with somebody giving him directions, if I remember correctly.  It seem like about halfway around it he hit the curb and the sudden bump caused the 2x4 to crack and the football broke off.

One of my best memories was lying on Gaylen's bed and listening to a Rod Stewart album playing on his Dual turtable and watching it on his Color Organ (now commonly referred to as a Light Organ).  A wonderful memory!

So I thought I pick a Rod Stewart song for today.  This song seems appropriate as I've tried to find Gaylen several times in recent years.  I so wish I had tried harder!  In retrospect there are several other avenues I could have pursued.  I've grown so used to doing things on the Internet that it never occurred to me until now that I could have used human connections...

"The Bluest Blues" by Alvin Lee (feat. George Harrison)

I attended the Women's Panel at the Utah Pride Center earlier this evening.  It was inspiring!  I really enjoyed hearing their stories and the things they have done.

Marina Gomberg, Carol Gnade, Luci Malin, Sandra Hollins, Linda Hilton, Kim Pederson, ?
Update: Carol Gnade was kind enough to send me some of the names I didn't know.

Anyway I especially enjoyed Kim Pederson's story about growing up in a town in Montana where every single person in the town was important.  And when one person in the town was having difficulty, everybody in the town chipped in to help and make up the difference.  There was none of this "every man for himself" bullshit!

She was/is a lesbian and talked about when the police raided the "gay bars" in the 60's how they would beat them up and sometimes even raped the lesbians.

Anyway, I heard this song while we were cleaning up the Ladies Literary Clubhouse after the  Utah Women Unite's Show Us Your Green Gala on St. Patricks Day.

Note: Alvin Lee was of course the lead vocalist and lead guitarist of the band Ten Years After that did the song "I'd Love to Change the World", which I posted last year on 17-July-2016.

And as I noted last year, I like the song but disagree with the lyrics.  First, I love dykes and fairies.  I know many, they are wonderful.  Hell, I can identify as a dyke, here are my shirts from the b+ dyke trans poly rallies and marches from the last two years:

And I firmly believe that those greedy rich bastards should be taxed MORE!!  #FeedThePoor!!  I'm still PISSED off about the Meals on Wheels thing!! Argh!!!  I don't really give a shit if there are no rich NO MORE!!

This is a funny bit from Stephen Colbert about the #TrumpCareFail - I love this line directed at Trump's blaming it on Democrats: "... not enough votes to get a majority, well that didn't stop you from becoming president!".

And then about the Judge Jeanine thing: "Yeah, just helping out a friend. 'You shove Ryan's head in the toilet and I'll stand by the bathroom door and yell for everyone come watch!'".

"Roam" by The B52's

Genevra posted in the Utah Women Unite page on Facebook a request to have people post a picture of just themselves in the post.  I saw the photo Kate Miller added with the description: "Tombstone, AZ, sippin' a sasparillia after a ride on that dusty trail":

The line "Oh girl, dancing down those dirty and dusty trails" popped into my head.

I saw this clip from Meet the Press today and this is another good example that everything is about tax cuts for the rich.  Trump is really a reverse Robin Hood, taking from the poor to give to the rich.

Having been on Misty K. Snow's campaign it is SO PAINFUL seeing Mike Lee.  As usual I disagree completely with Mike Lee.

"The Sound of Crying" by Prefab Sprout

I saw this story this morning on why Paul Ryan and other republicans hate the poor:

Salon: http://www.salon.com/2017/03/23/why-are-republicans-so-cruel-to-the-poor-paul-ryans-profound-hypocrisy-stands-for-a-deeper-problem/

I can believe that!  This belief in God and using it to justify all sorts of bullshit is so annoying!  I remember back when the AIDS epidemic came out and the cries that it was God punishing gay people.  Utter nonsense!

I was telling SueZQ about the article and she told me about her recent thoughts about morality.  She says that when you do something to help others and improve humanity, that is a moral act.  When you do things that harm other human beings to satisfy your own desires, that is an immoral act.

I heard "Appetite" by Prefab Sprout on 103.1 The Wave a little while ago and remembered what a great song that is. Unfortunately, once again, I already posted it 5 years ago on 6-Mar-2012.

But then I remembered this great song, which is much more timely.  It's probably even more relevant now that when Paddy wrote it over 30 years ago.

"Regret" by New Order

I certainly had lost it yesterday and I even struggled to keep from going down the rabbit hole this morning.  I thought about posting the "White Rabbit" song by Jefferson Airplane, but I see I posted it last year on 24-Feb-2016.

Then, because I was rode my bike over to Costco yesterday collecting aluminum cans on theway to and from, I thought about posting "Poor Side of Town" by Johnny Rivers, but I found I had posted it on 3-Nov-2015.

And then I thought about posting "Ruined in a Day" by New Order, but once again I'd posted it, in my old blog, clear back on 4-Oct-2013.

Three strikes I decided to post a different New Order song that I really love, from my favorite New Order album: "Republic".

One interesting thing is that there are 32-bit remastered tracks of this album.  I've long felt that the 16-bits used for CDs and a lot of digital music was really insufficient.  I have a 24-bit sound card and I feel like it has much better quality.

YouTube (official): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71ZHVmSuBJM
YouTube (32-bit): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErZ4o-a_9Cw

Here are all the 32-bit 96 KHz tracks from the "Republic" album.

YouTube (32-bit album): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErZ4o-a_9Cw&list=PLAXtxlmxaeodPehAgTJXX_Bu2MOlGIBrZ

Note: it pops up the annoying "This video contains content from WMG, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. | Sorry about that." message.  So I have not been able to play any of the other tracks in this YouTube list.

And finally a Bill Maher video about the "Hitler Care" failure yesterday:

"Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine

Please note: if you are going to get freaky about the F-word you should probably just skip this post.  I know this language isn't very ladylike but sometimes a girl just has to... I don't know...  I'm thinking about that famous quote "Well-behaved women seldom make history":

GoodReads: https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/2885214-well-behaved-women-seldom-make-history

I'm still feeling a lot of rage over the "Equal Means Equal" movie.  Women are discriminated against in so many ways:

There are some bills before the Senate Judiciary and the House to remove the time limit for ratifying the ERA.  I'm not 100% clear on how it all fits together, but here are some links to some information about it:

EqualRightsAmendment.org  http://www.equalrightsamendment.org/congress.htm

Congress Joint Resolution 53: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-joint-resolution/53

Anyway, several months ago, after having a discussion with our therapist she came up with a phrase that has become our mantra: "Don't fuck with my Zen!".  To help me/us always remember to not let things fuck with my Zen, I even made posters to hang on our walls.

Note: you can click on this image to download the uncensored image.

I'm not exactly sure what happened today, we have been doing really well for some weeks now.  Staying strong and not letting things fuck with our Zen.  But today it was like we completely lost it and everything was fucking with our Zen.

Anyway, I've had this song stuck in my head ever since Monday night when I posted that other song by Rage Against the Machine.

"Coming Undone" by Jennifer Corday

I'm going to wander into a weird area here... several weeks ago I started watching a lesbian romance movie on Netflix.  I was interrupted and didn't finish watching it until this afternoon.  I would guess it is rated "Mature" for a couple of sex scenes.

But that is not why I liked it.  I really enjoyed the romantic aspects of the film.  I've always been a romantic at heart.  Throughout the film they had little clips of various couples (hetero and gay included) telling their love stories.

"Good Vibrations" by The Beach Boys

I went over to the Zest Kitchen & Bar where my friend Sarah Little Drum and her band were playing tonight.  It was delightful!  Laid back and groovin'.  It felt like I had escaped and was back to the '60s, just diggin' on the good vibrations.

"Sleep Now in the Fire" by Rage Against the Machine

Earlier today I saw a story on the PBS News Hour about Chuck Berry's death (as I mentioned in yesterday's post).  They went on to talk about a famous journalist, Jimmy Breslin, also passing.

They mentioned one of his famous quotes: "Rage is the only quality which has kept me, or anybody I have ever studied, writing columns for newspapers.".  There was some talk about rage being what really drives people.  I thought about how that has certainly been a driver for me that last couple of months!

From Women's March at Utah State Capital 23-Jan-2017

Then this evening I attended a showing of the movie "Equal Means Equal" presented by Utah Women Unite at the Marmalade Library.

This film enraged me!  I was motivated before, but seeing this film was like throwing a thousand more gallons of fuel on the fire!!  It is seriously INSANE how discriminated against, women are in America.  Seriously everyone needs to see this film!!  It is unbelievable the many ways women are treated as lesser than men.

Oh I saw this the other day too:

YouTube (Woman's Card): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNAKKi43QVE

Anyway, my first thought was to post "Killing in the Name" by Rage Against the Machine, but then I found this song which is much more appropriate.  The really scary thing is the is one shot with somebody holding a "Donald Trump for President 2008" sign.

This video has the game show "Who Wants to be Filthy F#&%ing Rich?" and some of the questions and correct answers are:

Q: Number of Americans with no health care?
A: 45 Million   (this was before the Affordable Care Act)

Q: The richest in America own...
A:  80% of all wealth

Q: Women make...
A: 30% less than men

Q: How many people in the world live on less than $1 a day?
A: One billion

Q: How many Americans live in poverty?
A: 35 million

I loved the final statement: "No money was harmed"  LOL!

"Johnny B. Goode" by Chuck Berry

I've been forgetting to post a picture from the Utah Women Unite's "Family Activism Night" last Monday.  We all learned about Equal Rights and Civil Liberty:

And we wouldn't want to forget the "Feminist Cookies":

I'm very sad to hear that Chuck Berry passed away yesterday!  I still remember playing his 45's over and over.  It's hard to believe that I haven't posted this song prior to this, but it's all good.  It left me a great song to post at this sad time.

I loved the whole Marion Berry/Chuck Berry/Johnny B. Goode plot line in "Back to the Future".

"Overload" by Berlin

OMG!  There is so much going on right now I am definitely in overload!  But I am also so PUMPED I feel like I'm going to EXPLODE!!  I don't even know where to start...

I'm, of course, walking in the St. Patrick's Day parade tomorrow with Utah Women Unite.  Genevra helped Psarah decorate her wheelchair for the parade and sent me these awesome pictures this morning:

I could go on and on and on about Genevra and how amazing she is!  She just called me and we had a brief chat and she mentioned how we are like sisters.  When I have time, I must write a blog post detailing our story from our first meeting at the vigil for the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.

And although I've only known Psarah a short time she is absolutely amazing as well!  I mean like everybody I've met in UWU are SO amazing!  I love all of you!!!

Oh girl!  I think my freaking head is going explode!  So many things going on today...

And, as of this morning, UWU  is going to be at the Utah Pride Festival and in the Utah Pride Parade this year.  I've probably mentioned it before, Tess is the UWU LGBTQIA+ caucus chair and I'm the co-chair and chair for the Transgender caucus.  So Tess and I will be directing Pride for UWU this year.  I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Then of course we have the "Show Us Your Green" Gala this evening:

Anyway, this song is the B-side to the first Berlin single "Matter of Time" with Terri Null on vocals.

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QGNQvSujKA

And lastly I found another video by FridayKiss that I love: 25 Things Your Soul Needs You To Know:

YouTube (FridayKiss): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjzwVXUJDx4

Some of the ones I really love:

1.  ... make the very most of the moment you are in right now.
2. The grandest intension isn't worth more than the smallest act of kindness.

Who am I kidding?!  I love them all!!  Everybody needs to watch this video!!

I think #22 is especially relevant to transgender people:

22. By being yourself, you put something beautiful into the world that was not there before...

"Lollipops and Roses" by Jack Jones

Things like this always seem so amazing to me!  Wonderful things like this never happened to me before I was transgender.  My life is so much better since I allowed the woman I was inside show on the outside!

#TransIsBeautiful

In the last week some anonymous person paid for my dinner, a friend gave me a designer bag to keep my music stuff in, and another friend gave me some beautiful flowers:

Anyway, this is a fun little song that feels appropriate.

I love the "live TV" video on the Judy Garland TV show.  Judy's intro makes me laugh now because she says she can't sing this song because she's a girl.  Screw that!  I have no qualms about singing this song!

"Tell Me Why" by Berlin

Cuzzin Brad over at 103.1 The Wave knows what a huge fan of Berlin I am, so he hit me up last week for my favorite track from the Pleasure Victim album.  I told him it's the title track and he said he would play it on his album showcase tomorrow.  So be sure to tune at 9 A.M. MDT to catch that.

Since I already posted the song "Pleasure Victim" years ago on my old blog just under five years ago on 22-Mar-2012, I decided to post another song from the album.

I  found a vinyl Berlin Greatest Hits album out at Sound and Vision Vinyl record store last week.  It has newer recordings and I've been really enjoying them.  I was just listening to it this morning in fact.

I also found an early version of this song that was the B-side to the MAO Records "The Metro" single.

"Onion Skin" by Boom Crash Opera

My friend Elizabeth Payne sent me a photo of when we were in the circle at the Women's Day march last week.  I think it is my favorite picture from the event, with me in it.

That day was so *AWESOME*!  I was so uplifted!!  It was thrilling to be there among so many amazing people!!!

I said to somebody yesterday: "These here are crazy times!".  As evidence I offer up this video by Samantha Bee about White Discrimination, it is pretty freakin' crazy.  My favorite line is "the only way some lady is calling you sweetie darling is if you leave a $100 on the dresser".

YouTube (Full Frontal): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nE8nQZPfYpY

Anyway, "these here are crazy times" reminded me of this song.  Plus it kinda reminds me of a certain REALLY thin skinned president that shall not be named...

"People" by Barbra Streisand

In yesterday's post I talked about how wonderful and amazing my life is!  What that makes that so are all the wonderful and amazing people in my life!

I made a bunch of new friends the other night at The Viva la Diva show, it was so much fun!

I wanted to write more and put in some other pics with other groups, but I can't seem keep up.

"Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard

OMFG my life is so freakin' awesome, BUT at the same time it is CRANKED UP TO 11!!!

YouTube (amp to 11 clip): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOO5S4vxi0o
YouTube (amp to 11 scene): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMSV4OteqBE

It is crazy all the new amazing and wonderful people I've met!  All then people that are coming together now.  It really makes me feel great but it is also kind of exhausting.  Especially for an old trans-woman with MS like me.

I have, like, the entire last week of blog posts started, but I haven't had time to finish them yet.  Sorry!

On the other hand the line "Maybe it's better to burn out than fade away" from this song popped into my head this morning.  Maybe that's true...

"Una Paloma Blanca" by George Baker Selection

Hmm, this popped up when I was searching for yesterday's song and I remember this.  I can't remember if it was the B-side or maybe another hit?  Anyway, it's a fun song.

The second video it looks like the "blue screened" them in.  Weird!

"Reach" by Martini Ranch

I always loved this song and the video was so cool.  Funny they substituted "dirty striped britches" for "dirty sons a bitches".  I always loved the line: "hell boy, gimme that guitar".

Sad to see that Bill Paxton (a member of Martini Ranch) passed away on Feb. 25.  I hadn't realized he was only a couple of months younger than me, born in the same year, 1955.

"Just Like a Woman" by Bob Dylan

Another Stephen Colbert Late Show that really made me laugh, this one about Jeff Sessions:

YouTube (Late Show): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TdUqdh9D-M

I was going to post a different Bob Dylan song today, but I had trouble findin it.  But while I was searching I came across this song, another song I've always loved.and it felt right for me.  Sometimes I do feel I "break like a little girl".  I'm actually okay with that :)

There are all sorts of versions of this song on YouTube, some of them seem to even have somewhat different lyrics.  I couldn't find anything with the album version\ I remember.

"Anxious In Venice" by Superhumanoids

My BFF Carri had her first "Newer New Wave" show on 103.1 The Wave earlier tonight.  I really enjoyed it, I really liked every one of the Newer Wave songs she played.  I had a hard time deciding which one to post tonight.

I finally decided this one stood out with a female vocal and after I watched the video I was sold.  I absolutely loved it!  I've watched the video like 8 times now, it's awesome!

Not only does the lead singer's hair look a lot like mine many days, but she really looks like I feel sometimes.  Actually, I can TOTALLY relate to this song and video.  Some days I so want to escape!!

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJpkqyZbb40
Of course one of the things I really want to escape from is the constant shit show from Cheeto Voldemort.  Here is a Finnish skit (with subtitles) that is pretty funny:

Update 5-Mar-2017:

The band's website is here: http://www.superhumanoids.com/ and they are a trio consisting of: Sarah Chernoff the lead singer, Max St. John synth programmer and Cameron Parkins.

"Wear Your Love Like Heaven" by Donovan

I went to the Utah Women Unite meeting tonight.  So uplifting to be among people who are so dedicated.  Such an amazing group!!

Next Wednesday, March 8th, we are meeting at the Utah State Capital for a "Direct Action".  Because parking is such a nightmare at the Capital, we are all meeting at City Creek and then they are having buses to take everybody to the Capital.

There was some discussion about having a separate (from the LGBT) Transgender caucus and I was told I would be the "official chair" if that happens.  :)

In other news, I found this video of Bernie Sanders response to Trump's speech on Monday.  I love Bernie, he makes so much sense to me.  He addressed many of the issues, things like giving 3 trillion in tax cuts to the richest 1%, SERIOUSLY?!?!?

This is another song I swear I've posted before, but it doesn't turn up in my searches.
